Biography

From a very young age, I've been involved in a martial art of some description. Coming from a family of Kenyan farmers, and collegiate athletes, and adopted by a holocaust survivor - I am no stranger to the concept of a strong diligent work ethic focusing on results. Physical training has always been at the core of my upbringing and the saying "health is wealth" leads my curiosity in developing my own skills as a rounded martial artist as well as maintaining good physical capacity to ensure I can embark on any sport or activity that piques my curiosity in the future.

As a teen, my main skills sat in competitive Tae Kwon Do and field hockey, switching to Capoeira and playing in premium division UK field hockey as a goalkeeper - to say my flexibility saved a few penalty flicks would be an understatement!

I've also entered stage physique competitions, with a goal to understanding them, but again a focus on physical activity, placing third in Miss Galaxy Universe bringing in my then Capoeira focus of training to a stage routine that also gained third place in the same competition. Being a fan and lifelong advocate for "barefoot" philosophy and shoes - you'll often see me sporting a pair of Vibram Five Fingers as I lead their official outdoor group movement classes in the summer of 2016 bringing to light the importance of letting feet be feet and making training not feel like typical training.

Currently, I'm enjoying the constant uphill struggle that is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu - I am a purple belt, and train numerous times per week whilst adding sprinkles of Muay Thai, Boxing, Eskrima, Wrestling and rock climbing in, to support my bid for understanding what it means and feels like to be a well rounded mixed movement artist.
